On Friday (April 13), Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made it clear that Israel's recent airstrike was a "grave mistake, a serious crime, and an extremely reckless move.
" He swore, saying, "By Allah, the consequences of this attack will be horrific, and the Zionist regime will be destroyed."
Khamenei posted a video message on X (formerly Twitter), expressing confidence in Iran’s military strength and national unity. He said, “Iran’s armed forces are ready for frontline combat, and no mercy will be shown to Israel. The blood of our martyrs will not go in vain, and we will not tolerate any intrusion into our airspace.”
In the early hours of Friday, the Israeli Air Force carried out extensive airstrikes in Iran’s capital, Tehran, and at least eight other cities.
The attacks targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities and military installations, killing at least 78 people and injuring more than 300, according to AFP reports. Around 100 facilities were reportedly damaged.
In response, Iran launched missile strikes at midnight on Friday targeting Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities, resulting in the death of one Israeli woman and injuries to nearly 50 others. Amid the escalating tension, Khamenei called on the Iranian people and military to remain united, saying, “If our enemies think we are weak, they are mistaken.
We will retaliate, and Israel will pay the price for this aggression.”
Analysts believe the conflict has already spread to a regional level and may escalate further. Both Iran and Israel have taken hardline stances, which signal the possibility of a major military confrontation in the
future.
